Popular Jacksonville Beach pizzeria to open in Five Points

Biggie's Pizza will take the spot of the former Kostas Pizza, which closed up shop back in June 2017 after 41 years in business.

A popular pizzeria known for its New York-style slices is opening up its second location in Five Points next month.

Biggie's Pizza made the announcement on the windows and door of the former Kostas Pizza Italian restaurant, located at 1053 Park St.

The announcement was true to its style: It appeared as graffiti with words spray-painted in big and bold coloring, saying the restaurant will open in late October.

The Jacksonville Beach-based pizzeria will take the spot of the former Kostas Pizza, which closed up shop back in June 2017 after 41 years in business. The owner, Kostas "Gus" Margaritis, said its closure was due to health problems.

"I've been in business in the same spot since 1976," Margaritis told First Coast News back in 2017. He added that he still owned the building and wanted to rent it out to another pizza restaurant.

Now, after more than two years of being vacant, Biggie's Pizza will call the spot its second home. Currently, a record search with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation shows the restaurant license application is still in progress.
